We are not an average company. Our service is not average and our people are far from average. Our UQ Power comes from our unwavering commitment to thinking big and a combination of our:
A big part of what makes us unique comes from the philosophy and experience of our CEO and founder – Heidi Alexandra Pollard. Over two decades she has built her name in the communication, leadership and change management arena. (Read about the UQ Philosophy in Heidi Alexandra's own words here).
Heidi Alexandra grew up and was educated in Australia’s Steel City, Newcastle. She has worked in the “blue-collar” industry and shares the same work ethic. Before founding several companies, Heidi worked as Director for a government work health and safety regulator, WorkCover. During her tenure, she changed the way WorkCover spoke to and built relationships with its stakeholders. She was responsible for changing the focus and perception of WorkCover as being the “enforcer” to focussing on the importance of working safely for the sake of going home to family and friends.
Her unique experience means that she can speak the language of frontline staff and of the corporate head office. She is an “insider” to any business with the ability to see behind the façade and see the reality of the culture, its people’s behaviours and unspoken rules. Through her years of studies of what makes organisations successful over the long-term, Heidi has identified the key ingredients necessary for sustainable growth and profitability.
As a trained leadership and communication coach and studier of neuroplasticity and the way the human brain works, she also has incredible insight into human behaviour and verbal and non-verbal communication. This gives her an ability to ask the right questions without judgement to force open and expand the minds of individuals, teams, and whole organisations to bring out their uniqueness (UQ Power) and challenge their assumptions.
Heidi sits as a member of the Hunter Medical Research Institute Foundation, is the Chair of the External Advisory Board for the University of Newcastle’s Communication Program and is a regular guest lecturer for the University’s MBA program. She holds a degree in Public Relations as well as a Graduate Diploma and Masters in Professional Communications and is an Accredited Myers Briggs Type Indicator trainer, Coach U Coach and Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner.
A part of our UQ Power is our ability to get the “inside” scoop on how companies can better engage their staff, how organisations can protect their image, and how they can form better relationships with the communities in which they operate. The reason we can do this is because we truly see "U". We see the uniqueness and gifts in every member of your team and how they can contribute to your organisation.
Given work is a place where the majority of us spend our waking hours we want to encourage companies to begin living and delivering on the promise to value their people as their most important asset. The evidence is clear that satisfied, more committed employees help improve a company’s performance. UQ Power was created as a concept, a company and a movement because it can help organisations deliver on their commitment to people and in doing so create happier workers who then have happier home lives, creating more peaceful, respectful and prosperous communities while at the same time contributing to the success of the company so that it can reach its strategic goals.
Imagine the difference you could make in your team, department, company or community if you started recognising and celebrating the Unique UQ Power each person has. I invite you to join me on this journey.
It starts with U. Take part in our programs now so you too can uncover your UQ Power and secure your company’s long-term success.
