As company culture architects we are always excited to find companies who are doing great things when it comes to their people and culture.
When it comes to creating positive workplace cultures it's uncommon to hear of an accountancy firm leading the way, but this firm has done just that. Launched in 2002, SiDCOR Chartered Accountants cemented founder Paul Siderovski's passion for finances and is now one of Australia's leading accountancy firms. With a name that originates from a Greek word meaning 'strong' or 'steel', SiDCOR's future looked certain and now SiDCOR has been named as one of the BRW Best Places to Work list.
However businesses are like communities - they start out small and then grow bigger, SiDCOR was just the same. From the early years of sacrifice and hard work with Paul putting in 100 hour weeks, he learnt to model the success of others and back himself 100 per cent. Paul's family was always his driving factor, wanting to create wealth and build a strong future for them, that and having freedom of choice.
Today Paul has built a strong company with an engaged and positive workplace culture. While they have pool tables, tennis tables, coffee machines, pizza ovens and a library the real strength has come from their strong vision and values. In a way SiDCOR are like the Google of the accounting profession here in Australia.
In this episode of UQTV I take a moment to chat to Paul about his award winning culture, entrepreneurship and investing in mentoring to build his business.
At the end of the day Paul believes it isn't him that creates his company culture, its his staff. To read more about SiDCOR visit http://www.sidcor.com.au/home
So now I'd love to hear from you - what do you believe makes a company culture great and where have you experienced one?
